Spiritual Sanctuary & The Scholar’s Heritage

Dazaifu is a town of deep spirituality, home to the Great Tenmangu Shrine dedicated to the God of Learning. This course is centered around HOTEL CULTIA Dazaifu, a stunningly restored manor that once belonged to the shrine’s painters. Beyond the daytime crowds, you will discover the true “Sacred Silence” of the shrine grounds at dawn and dusk. This is a journey to experience the pinnacle of Japanese spiritual hospitality, where ancient rituals and the refined culture of the Tenmangu shrine provide a divine backdrop for your union.

  • Monzen-machi Welcome: Incense & Ink

    [Welcome Party: 20-30 Guests] A serene evening reception in the historic courtyard of CULTIA. Guests are welcomed with a “Sake Toast” featuring local Fukuoka brews and a live demonstration of Japanese calligraphy (Shodo), honoring the spirit of Sugawara no Michizane. Day 2

  • Divine Vows & The Painting Manor Banquet

    [Wedding & Reception] A formal Shinto ceremony at the majestic Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. Following the sacred ritual, the party moves to CULTIA for a banquet in the “Painter’s Manor.” The menu is a masterpiece of “Kyushu Terroir,” featuring high-end Hakata Wagyu and seafood from the Genkai Sea, served in a space where the elegance of the Edo period remains intact.

Day 3

  • Zen Reflections & The Ritual of Morning Prayer

    [Family Time] A rare “Private Morning Prayer” (Chousai) at the shrine before the public arrives. Afterward, visit the nearby Komyozen-ji Temple, famous for its stunning Zen rock garden, for a private meditation session. The afternoon is spent strolling through the Monzen-machi with a private guide who reveals the hidden stories of the shrine’s 1,100-year history.
